research

Pangula Mannamurna recognises that Indigenous people have frequently been the subject of research with little benefit.

The right to health includes a requirement that health services obide by medical ethics.

Any proposal for research in the field of Aboriginal health is to be referred to the Aboriginal Health Research Ethics Committee (AHREC). For more information about AHREC, click on the link below:

The NHMRC has identified a range of strategic priorities to improve Indigenous health through community engagement, research, and development of guidelines, all within a sensitive cultural and ethical framework. The priorities identified through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research Agenda Working Group (RAWG) are outlined in the NHMRC’s Road Map for Improved Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, and ethical considerations are contained in Values and Ethics: Guidelines on Ethical Conduct in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research.
