Pangula Mannamurna employs Gilbert Rigney as a male Aboriginal Health Worker (AHW) for three days per week and Shona Summers as a female AHW, also for three days per week. Both Gilbert and Shona work closely with the General Practitioner.

The role of the AHWs includes clinical functions (as the first point of contact with the health workforce); liaison and cultural brokerage; health promotion; community care; administration, management and control; and policy development and program planning.

With the establishment of the one-stop-shop, Gilbert and Shona are expected to be working along side an AHW from the State Government. The roles of each differ to the extent that the role of Gilbert and Shona is more clinically orientated and that of the State Government AHW is more orientated around health promotion and prevention. However both roles are important and they are expected to complement each other.
