Indigenous people's access to Medicare is estimated to be only around 41% of that for non-Indigenous people. The reasons for this include a lack of GPs who bulk-bill and perceived racism when attending a GP clinic. Pangula Mannamurna is attempting to counteract this in a number of ways, including:
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Medicare enrolment and amendment form can be used to enrol with Medicare, change your contact details, add a child to your card or to ask for a replacement card. To view an enrolment form, click on the link below: The form has been specifically developed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It includes a proof of identity section, which can be used if you do not have any form of ID. It also has a section where you can identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
