The aims of the youth service are to provide:

  • a high quality youth service which works towards empowering Aboriginal young people and their families;
  • a case management service to Aboriginal young people who are identified as most 'at risk'; and
  • linkages for young people to allied services in health, education & training, accommodation, recreation and cultural arenas throughout the South East Region.

A key aspect of the service is the provision of information, covering areas of accommodation, health, recreation and education & training options relevant to Aboriginal people. To view a recent newsletter, click on the link below:

The Youth Worker also organises structured educational and recreational programs aimed at enhancing Aboriginal youth development. Case management services can include:

  • development of trusting and helping relationships;
  • joint identification of problems/issues to be addressed;
  • joint development of an action plan with the individual;
  • effective intervention in accordance with the action plan(s);
  • joint development of an action plan with the individual; and
  • utilisation of agency and community resources as appropriate.
