There is increasing recognition that there needs to be greater focus on improving the health of Aboriginal children in order to improve the plight of Aboriginal people. In particular, Pangula Mannamurna is keen to assist expectant mothers to stop smoking and drinking in order to give their child as good a start in life as they can.

All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are now eligible for a bulk-billable health check. Contact us today to arrange a health check for your child. To view more information about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Health Check, click on the link below:

Pangula Mannamurna also has a role in identifying and assisting abused children. If you know or think a child is being mistreated or sexually abused, don't turn away. It is in our hands now to do something about this. For advice, or to report your concern, contact us at Pangula Mannamurna or call the Department of Families & Communities on 13 14 78. The published report of SNAICC's project on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parenting and family issues is now available. Funded by FaCS, the project included focus groups with families and workers, stakeholder consultations, a national workshop and a program audit, run over the first half of 2004. It also included a literature review, which SNAICC contracted out to Swinburne University.
